SHORT MEMORY

Truth has been proven to be eminently malleable.

Reality is simply what we are lead to believe.

Facts are just things that get in the way of understanding.

If there is an overriding hallmark of America’s political culture it is the brevity that is assigned to those elements of time and space that simply don’t fit into the current and convenient notions of this country, it’s government and politics, it’s institutions and economics, and even it’s loyal and proud citizens.

The bi-partisan myth of liberty’s beacon for the world is re-crafted anew in the wake of each fresh atrocity that will soon be disappeared or sanitized for public repetition.

The self-righteous national victim hood for hostile acts real or imagined is sustained by blind eyes oblivious to what should be patently obvious, cursing the fruits of a planet’s soil nurtured by rapacious greed, seeded with air strikes and blessed with the most earnest hypocrisy.

Blood leaves the hands not by an honest washing, but though balanced retrospectives leaving the viewer anesthetized to any sense of responsibility or clue to the staggering enormity of the crime.

But facts do exist.

Reality is not determined by focus group.

Truth will still claw its way out from many a premature burial.

This is for those who can never forget.

For those who won’t give in.

For those who will become our desperately needed future.
